Mar 27, part 2: Hold the phone. Member shawnob13 clued me in that my previous commentary was a little off. Veteran member Cacciatorini and his #4 entry already used all four available teams. You see, since he is often a risk taker, I didn't question his South Carolina pick at all, and my quick scan of the results table skipped over the fact he doesn't have a team left. Now I realize it, he is out and we are down to 7 alive.

Plus, every entry has used Gonzaga - the Zags! If they win then everyone who picks the winner of the Oregon-North Carolina game will split the pool. That is if they win. Will anyone pick against the Zags? Some have no choice. Interesting indeed. Can't wait until Saturday to definitively sort this all out.

Mar 27: Classic II is decided so you guys are the last ones playing. Only eight alive after the Elite Eight round, which qualifies as a bloodbath since we started the round with 29! Yep, we lost 21 entries thanks to losses by Xavier, Florida, Kentucky and Kansas. No one picked Oregon. Three each for North Carolina and Gonzaga, and a pair (ballsy) on South Carolina. Pickings are now seriously slim! But, everyone can make at least one pick this round. Hope it is the right one. Schedule is in. Games are Saturday. Good luck!

Mar 26: I missed the second half of my commentary for the Sweet 16 and just like that we are right in the thick of the Elite Eight. And another big upset! Once apparently unstoppable Kansas goes down at the hands of Oregon. No one picked Oregon. A bunch picked Kansas, some picked Xavier. It gets even more interesting tomorrow as we've got picks on each side of both games. Good luck to all of our remaining competitors!

Mar 24: Whoa baby. Pool is getting THIN for being only halfway through the Sweet 16 round. Thanks a lot, Arizona. That was 8 departures. Four more on Michigan and a West Virginia. Basically if you used a #1 seed last night, you're through to Elite Eight. There is a mixed bag of picks tonight so we will definitely be saying bon voyage to at least a few others. Late game start at 10:45pm Eastern is tough but otherwise, great tournament! FYI, Elite Eight schedule does not get entered in the pool until the last Sweet 16 game is final.

Mar 20: It wasn't nearly as bad a Sunday as the Saturday, but still a few casualties with Duke loss to South Carolina and Louisville getting the boot by Michigan. Still some people in our pool with multiple entries hanging around. If you are still alive, now you can relax and regroup your game plan for this weekend. Sweet 16 schedule is in. First game and deadline Thursday at 7:00pm Eastern.

Mar 19: Wow, just got back from a 27 hour drive south Florida to home. Not a lot of fun! Especially coming back from vacation. Going there it wasn't so bad. Not to mention the return trip, missing the basketball! Florida State knocked a big bunch of us out of the pool Saturday, plus some Villanova falling victim to an upset and a few others. Not a good day yesterday! Picks are already locked in for today with a lot of Baylor and Oregon backers. If you are still alive, good luck!

Mar 18: SMU! We lost 14 on you, and I don't even know what you stand for! Plus another 3 on Creighton. That puts us down 24 through two days and surely more Saturday and Sunday as the teams get a little closer ranked to one another making this less and less predictable. A bunch of default picks for North Carolina this round. Hey, that could work out if NC State stumbles while everyone else was saving them. Remember, only one default pick per entry through the length of the pool. Saturday picks due just after noon Eastern!

Mar 17: We lost 7 in this pool on the first day. Two each for Maryland, Minnesota and Vanderbilt, and a single on my favourite team to root for, VCU. Time for a new favourite for this year! Get your next round pick in and also the Saturday schedule is now in for those of you planning to stay alive that long. Ha ha!
