Hockey is back! NHL regular season starts October 12th (a Tuesday). The MOP **Saturday** pick'em and survivor hockey pools start October 16th (Saturday, of course). This is our free entry survivor pool.

Pick one team a week from the Saturday NHL schedule to win. If they win, then you get a checkmark. If they lose, then you get a strike. Once you get TWO strikes (hence the double knockout), you're out! Cannot pick the same team twice.

The weekly pick deadline is 7:00 pm Eastern on Saturdays but earlier games must be picked before opening puck drop. This pool is open to all members. Limit 1 entry per member. Good luck! Also join free entry pick'em pool.

test1234 (Jan 9): Sorry typo. Thanks Lilpig, great picks each week for you as well.
test1234 (Jan 9): Thanks Mike and Liplig. Same here didn't expect eliminations all around given last strike anyone had was December 4. But that's what so fun and unpredictable about survivor pools. Great pool everyone, this was a lot of fun!
Mike (Jan 9): Nice job test1234, congrats! Didn't expect this one to finish this week this group has been picking so well. The Flower with the upset back in Vegas!
Lilpig (Jan 9): Congratulations test1234, Great pools Mike, thanks.
test1234 (Jan 8): Pool Winner! Nice job Rangers. Great setup we had Rangers vs. Ducks head to head late Saturday night here to finish it. Thanks again Mike, nice to have my first Survivor win after mostly success in Pick'em!
test1234 (Jan 8): Down to 2. Thank you Chicago upset. Over 3 minutes away, Rangers go on PP.
Mike (Jan 4): On we go. I'm checking as much as I can, but make sure to keep checking yourself for NHL postponements. Already three for this Saturday.
pacepanther (Jan 1): Good luck folks.
Mike (Dec 20 '21): Nice job staying alive on the short slate! There are no games on Dec. 25 (never were any scheduled). I extended the pool to the next week, Jan. 1 games, and we'll see if there are any schedule changes between now and then. Thanks all for playing, Happy Holidays!
pacepanther (Dec 18 '21): No Leafs game tonight. Bummer.
pacepanther (Dec 11 '21): And Oshie to the rescue. Let's all battle on next Saturday!
pacepanther (Dec 11 '21): Thank you Mr. Stanchion. Stanchion with a big assist on the Kampf pot. Go Leafs!
pacepanther (Dec 11 '21): Mrazek? Uhoh. C'mon! Go Leafs Go!!!!
Mike (Nov 29 '21): Now that was a big upset, Seattle over Florida in the sort of early game Saturday. We are down to 8 alive. 7 of 8 have a strike, only antique roadshow is perfect so far.
pacepanther (Nov 28 '21): Still hangin' in there!
Mike (Nov 22 '21): Did I jinx you, pacepanther? We lost a few Saturday, not too many
Mike (Nov 16 '21): You are on a roll in the survivor pools, pace.
pacepanther (Nov 13 '21): Scheifele! Phew.
Mike (Nov 10 '21): I was feeling proud of myself with the two straight correct to start. That quickly went away. I'm out, let's see how long the rest of you still alive can last. Good luck!
Mike (Nov 2 '21): Pittsburgh handed me my first strike, and I wasn't alone.
Mike (Oct 23 '21): Some got the default pick and it is alphabetical - Arizona. Well, good luck!
Mike (Oct 19 '21): My bad, I didn't set the "limit number of entries" to one for this pool, and I see some of you got a second entry in. I'm going to remove those, but if you got one pick right, one wrong, we'll keep the correct one. Sorry all.
Mike (Oct 12 '21): This week is the week. Tuesday league start. Saturday pool start.
Mike (Oct 6 '21): Mike updated the pool
Mike (Oct 6 '21): Mike created the pool

Saturday Survivor Hockey!

  • Pick one team to WIN its game (including OT and shootout)
    • If they win, advance to the next week
    • If they lose, take a strike
  • Once you have two strikes , you are out of the pool
  • You CANNOT pick the same team more than once
  • Last entry to survive is the winner!

Rules Summary

Starting the first week of your pool, you have to pick one team that will win its game straight up (no point spreads) including overtime and shootout results.

If the team you picked loses, then you receive a strike. Once you collect two strikes, then you are eliminated from the pool.

You cannot pick the same team twice during the length of this pool.

Picks are submitted once a week. Only games played on Saturdays are included in the pool.

The last person in the pool still alive after all others have been eliminated, the survivor, is the winner.

The pool will continue as long as there are entries still alive or until the pool's final week, whichever comes first.

In weeks with games scheduled earlier than the above deadlines, these games can be selected but picks must be submitted before puck drop of that game. This deadline applies to all remaining games for the week.

These deadlines will be strictly enforced! There will be no exceptions for picks not being submitted on time.

Default Pick

If no pick is submitted prior to the deadline, then a default pick will be assigned a maximum of once per entry for the length of the pool. If an entry already used a default pick in a previous week, then no pick is assigned and the entry takes a wrong pick for that week.

The default pick will be the team listed first alphabetically based on city then team name, not already used previously, amongst all teams playing on or after the deadline.

Alternate Pick Submission

If you are having difficulty submitting your pick online, then send the pick by email to mike@myofficepool.ca. Make sure to clearly state the name of the pool, your username, entry number, week of the pool and pick. The email must be received time stamped prior to the deadline and from the email account associated with your username.

We take no responsibility for email being delayed past the deadline or not being delivered. Everyone should use the online system to make their picks and only send an email in the case of an emergency.

Multiple Winners

If more than one entry is still alive at the end of the pool, then those alive entries are all considered equal winning entries.

Mass Knockout Rule

If more than five entries are all eliminated in the same week and these eliminations would result in the conclusion of the pool, because there are no more alive entries, then these entries will be considered still alive and play on if there are available weeks remaining in the pool.

If five or fewer entries are all eliminated in the same week and these eliminations result in the conclusion of the pool, then those entries are all considered equal winning entries.
