slackavelli (Nov 23): something just occurred to me. the prize money is paid out by each individual entry, not per person. Thus.... if i end up taking first and second place with my two entries... black slack sacks and slackavellie #2 can end up with ALL of the pool money.. the 8.75k and the 1.25k. ..... we might want to talk about doing a split after we lost a few more entries. i doubt both my entries will survive till the end. in fact, i could lose both this week, but here is to hoping.
slackavelli (Nov 22): folks can we agree to split this prize 14 ways now?
slackavelli (Nov 21): i am ready for a split now after a crazy week 11
Mike (Nov 16): We've lost a lot in the last two weeks. Congrats and good luck to the final 27 who made it to this point.
Mike (Nov 16): @How does this work - I wish! So much for Brady's stellar record coming out of a bye.
Mike (Nov 16): Splits are allowed if EVERYONE agrees to it, but I generally will not contact people about a split until we are at 5 or fewer alive entries. At this point discussing a split seems premature.
Mike (Nov 16): Wow, never so much action in the chat. Yes, a tie is a strike. The team you pick has to win. Definitely more ties in recent years, and queue the annual, "this player didn't know you could tie in the NFL" media post.
How does this work (Nov 15): Can I get a mulligan on picking TB?
slackavelli (Nov 15): 27 players left. I can only imagine at least 20 more will be eliminated by the end of week #15. If I have one of both of my entries left, I want to make a deal to settle the entire $9,750 prize pool among 2-4 remaining players. Split evenly. I don't want a split of 5 or more players. Is this allowed, Mike? Players will keep dropping out. When it gets down to 3-4, somebody will get their feelings hurt really badly in week 16 or 17 by getting eliminated only to see 1 or 2 people go on to get paid. The players who almost got to the end will get nothing. This is your biggest pool EVER. I'd be very
Spider (Nov 14): A tie is a loss. The team has to win to survive so tie counts as a loss.
kidnarsky (Nov 14): I think we lose.
Giants1 (Nov 14): If game is tied what happens?
Mike (Nov 12): The prior week "strategy" was take the favourite on Thursday, get it out of the way. This week... that did not work.
Mike (Nov 9): Down to the wire, Elion7!
Elion7 (Nov 8): I think a big upset week was due. Quite concerned for the Steelers tonight. Hope they don't go down too.
Mike (Nov 8): Did I jinx us by starting up the second half survivor?
Mike (Nov 8): That was a rough Sunday. For survivor players. For Bills fans.
How does this work (Nov 5): Anyone have the cojones to take the Dolphins??
How does this work (Nov 4): Definitely too close for comfort
Mike (Nov 2): We lost 135! And you're right, Lizzysport, could have been worse last night if the Giants were halfway competent. Bonus for people who picked KC, don't have to worry about picking them again.
Mike (Nov 2): Listen here H(o)(o)ter... :/
Lizzysport (Nov 1): Well that was a nail biter (KC survivors) !!
H(o)(o)ter (Nov 1): Wow the Bills Super Bowl hangover must have been a doozy, lasting almost 20: years! …. Don’t worry about the Chiefs theres lots of games left to play
Mike (Oct 30): It's the turnovers! Super Bowl hangover in full effect. Plus, didn't Mahomes have a kid? And his brother appears super annoying, to boot.
slackavelli (Oct 30): the 0-7 Lions are the worst team since the 1950's. they won 3 NFL championships in the 50's, but since then they have won only ONE playoff game since then. That was in 1991. they got blown out out the next week in Washington

Rules Summary

Starting the first week of your pool, you have to pick one team that will win its game straight up (no point spreads).

If the team you picked wins, then you survive to the next week to pick another team to win.

If the team you picked loses or ties, then you receive a strike. Once you collect one strike, then you are eliminated from the pool.

You cannot pick the same team more than once during the NFL regular season. If the contest extends into the NFL Playoffs, then the remaining entrants can pick a team they selected during the regular season, but, the same team cannot be picked twice during the NFL playoffs.

The last person in the pool still alive after all others have been eliminated, the survivor, is the winner.

The pool will continue as long as there are entries still alive or until the pool's final round, after the Super Bowl.

In weeks with games scheduled earlier than the above deadlines, such as Thursday, Saturday or Sunday morning (international games), these games can be selected but picks must be submitted before kickoff of that game.

This deadline applies to all remaining games for the week, including late Sunday and Monday night games.

These deadlines will be strictly enforced! There will be no exceptions for picks not being submitted on time.

Default Pick

If no pick is submitted prior to the deadline, then a default pick will be assigned a maximum of once per entry for the length of the pool. If an entry already used a default pick in a previous week, then no pick is assigned and the entry takes a wrong pick for that week.

The default pick will be the team with the best (most favoured) point spread line for the week of the games played on Sunday only scheduled after the weekly pick deadline.

Alternate Pick Submission

If you are having difficulty submitting your pick online, then send the pick by email to Make sure to clearly state the name of the pool, your username, entry number, week of the pool and pick. The email must be received time stamped prior to the deadline and from the email account associated with your username.

We take no responsibility for email being delayed past the deadline or not being delivered. Everyone should use the online system to make their picks and only send an email in the case of an emergency.

Multiple Winners

If more than one entry is still alive at the end of the pool, then those alive entries are all considered equal winning entries.

Tie Breakers

For pools that extend into the NFL Playoffs, it is possible to run out of available teams to select, so the following tie breakers exist:

An entry that survives a round but does not have any teams left to pick from is deemed to have survived further than an entry that does not survive that last round.

An entry that can pick a team but loses in a round is deemed to have survived further than an entry that had no teams to pick from at the start of that round.

Mass Knockout Rule

If more than five entries are all eliminated in the same week and these eliminations would result in the conclusion of the pool, because there are no more alive entries, then these entries will be considered still alive and play on if there are available weeks remaining in the pool.

If five or fewer entries are all eliminated in the same week and these eliminations result in the conclusion of the pool, then those entries are all considered equal winning entries.
