$1,500 Classic II Survivor (Week 6 Start)

Oct 16: That was fast! We start a brand new survivor pool on a week with multiple double digit favourites on the board to select from, and multiple double digit favorites go and [ insert appropriate expletive filled metaphor here ]. I'm out, and I didn't even pick the Falcons or Broncos. Baltimore Ravens were my team... which in retrospect wasn't the best idea since the Bears did play pretty well last week against the Vikings.

Regardless, it was a mess out there on Sunday. Hope no one was gripping their phone too tightly checking the scores. We didn't sell out at 90 entries. We hit 80, but from that only 36 are alive after Week 6 (a.k.a. week one). Lets see what next week brings!

- - -
Oct 10: Survivor I seems to be decaying at the rate of a half-life - or whatever the proper terminology is, I was never much of a science guy. It lost 18 of 36 in Week 5, which should mean lots are motivated looking for redemption in this pool. Grab your spot(s), don't delay!
- - -
Oct 3: Update - we lost another 33 in Classic I Survivor in Week 4, or 84 of 120 total for an even 70% out, 30% still alive. Maybe the NFL will get a tad more predictable starting Week 6?
- - -
Not even October yet and we've lost 51 entries from our Classic I Survivor! That is 42.5%! Through 3 weeks! Stupidly unpredictable NFL. Ah, but that is what keeps us tuning in, doesn't it? Well that and the protests these days, I suppose.

Anyway, from a pure lets keep football about sports and not politics perspective, and lets keep things interesting with a little money on the line, it is time to open Classic II Survivor! That is what this is, our mid-season football pool.

This one starts Week 6. Same rules as Classic I - one strike and you are out. Last man standing wins the whole kit and caboodle, a $1,500 grand prize!

$20 Canadian per entry (plus $3 HST). Purchase multiple entries. Pool is limited to 90 entries total.

Join now and edit your Week 6 pick any time up to the deadline. Pay when you join the pool or send an Interac email money transfer to mike@myofficepool.ca. The first 90 paid entries are in. Thanks and good luck!

$1,000 Double Knockout Survivor

Oct 16: I am impressed we still have 3 perfect entries in this one. We did lose 6 earning their second strike thanks to the Falcons and Broncos for failing to finish off the Dolphins or just plain failing to show up versus the Giants. There are 7 alive from the original 30 with a chance to win the $1,000. Good luck!

- - -
Oct 10: You know it figures the first week I decide to put some faith in the Buffalo Bills they go and drop a game against the lowly Bengals. Although no one else picked them so I suppose I went too off the board there and should have known better. But how about those Steelers? Yikes, that was ugly. We lost six entries completely on their second strike, and five more received their first strike. It was a tough week. Steelers and Giants accounted for most of the strikes while Eagles were the safest pick as they crushed the Cardinals. Less than half of our original 30, only 14, remain alive heading into Week 6. Reminder: $1,500 Classic II Survivor starts this week.
- - -
Oct 3: We lost 6 entries on the latest version of Black Sunday as far as football survivor pools are concerned, bringing our losses to an even 10 and therefore only 20 still alive in this pool. With a double knockout I would have thought we could go the distance through the regular season but it is looking less likely unless the NFL gets a tad more predictable. Nine alive entries are still perfect while eleven have their first strike. Week 5 looks like a bit of a bear, so we will see who can make it to the other side. If you are looking for a shot at redemption I opened a new single knockout, $20 entry pool, the $1,500 Classic II Survivor.
- - -
Sept 26: Well that could have been a lot worse than it was! Nine strikes between the Broncos, Dolphins, Steelers and Panthers, but how close were we to losing all the picks on the Packers and Patriots? That was every other pick except a couple Cowboys, a Rams and Eagles. All in all we lost three entries with their second strike, bringing us down to 26 alive. Eleven of those alive entries have one strike.
- - -
Sept 19: Not too many wrong picks this week but we did have one double knockout casualty already. evan0202 #3 (who has likely won more money than anyone in MOP history, so we aren't throwing stones here) went back-to-back Thursday night losers to get his entry booted from the pool. There were some big spreads Week 2 and while some were closer than expected (Seahawks, Panthers), the favourites pulled through for the win. Good for this week, but an ominous sign for the weeks to come!
- - -
Sept 12: Aren't you glad you joined the double knockout pool? It was a rough Week 1 with some heavy favourites getting their ass handed to them (Patriots, Texans), but it matters not here because everyone is still alive. There are 8 entries of only 30 with their first strike though, so they have to be extra cautious picking for Week 2. Two strikes and you are out.
- - -
This one works the same as our Classic I pool, except it is a DOUBLE KNOCKOUT survivor. You get two strikes, or think of it as one mulligan, to survive as long as you can.

Also, it is a smaller and therefore much better odds pool. This one is limited to only 30 entries competing for the prize of $1,000.

I'm not sure "high rollers" is an appropriate name, but it is $40 Canadian per entry (plus $5 HST). Purchase multiple entries. Deadline to enter is Sunday at 1:00pm Eastern of NFL Week 1.

Join now and edit your pick any time up to the deadline. Pay when you join the pool or send an Interac email money transfer to mike@myofficepool.ca. The first 30 paid entries are in, no exceptions. Good luck!

$1,000 Double Knockout Survivor II

Oct 16: One-third of our entries received their second strike in Week 6 and got jettisoned from the pool. There are only 4 perfect entries and 9 alive in total competing for the big prize. These crazy upsets can't possible continue, can they? Good luck to our remaining competitors.

- - -
Oct 10: I think since we had so many in this pool pick the Steelers in Week 1 that helped prevent more casualties in Week 5. We were not completely immune however, as we lost three on their second strike, plus five more first strikes. All of those were the Steelers debacle against the Jaguars except one on the Giants, who are already looking forward to a top pick in the NFL Draft. Good luck in Week 6 to those still alive. Also, reminder for everyone, our $1,500 Classic II Survivor (single knockout, $20 entry) starts Week 6.
- - -
Oct 3: Our identical format Double Knockout I pool is down to 20 alive entries after losing six in a fairly brutal Week 4. In this one we lost four and are down eight total, leaving 22 alive. Pat yourselves on the back, you are slightly smarter or luckier than the other group - for now. If you are looking for a shot at redemption I opened a new single knockout, $20 entry pool, the $1,500 Classic II Survivor.
- - -
Sept 26: Well I'm out. That didn't take long. Stupid Steelers - how do they go and roll over to a terrible Chicago team? But it was one of those weeks where up was down and not much made sense. Of the entries that are actually eligible to win this thing, we lost three taking us down to 26 alive. There are still a fair number of perfect entries but oh so close with a couple of those games Sunday. On to Week 4!
- - -
Sept 19: I think midnightwriter is from Cincy. Or hates Houston. Or is a big cat lover - no love for the Lions? At any rate he rolled the dice on the Bengals last Thursday along with evan0202 and go burned by the no touchdown scoring offense, which in case you didn't know, makes it very tough to win football games! We did lose evan0202 #3 from the pool after he picked the Pats the week before. midnightwriter has another life - not 9 lives - but one more for each entry to keep going. On to Week 3.
- - -
Sept 12: Thanks for helping fill this pool at the last minute so we could make a go of it and not leave me out of pocket. As an added benefit, many of you avoided a first strike on the Patriots Thursday night debacle against the Chiefs. Remember this is double knockout so everyone is still alive and kicking... for now. Once you get a second strike then you get the boot for good. Good luck Week 2!
- - -
Our first $1,000 Double Knockout Survivor sold out late Wednesday, so lets see what we can do trying to fill a second one!

Again, this one is limited to only 30 entries competing for the prize of $1,000. It is $40 Canadian per entry (plus $5 HST). Purchase multiple entries. Deadline to enter is Sunday at 1:00pm Eastern of NFL Week 1. The first 30 paid entries are in, no exceptions.

$2,000 Classic I Survivor

Oct 16: We started with 120 entries in Week 1. Five alive entries after Week 6! So much for trusting double digit favourites. Which was worse? The Falcons give up a 17 points lead to the Jay Cutler led Dolphins, or the Broncos off their bye lose badly to the 0-5 badly depleted Giants? I'm not sure and it doesn't really matter I suppose. Congrats to our 5 survivors and good luck the rest of the way, however long that is!

- - -
Oct 10: Oh boy. Let me start by saying once again our $1,500 Classic II Survivor is set to start this week. Kind of tells you how this week went, doesn't it?

In Week 5 we lost another 18 entries, mostly due to the Steelers getting their asses handed to them at home by the Jacksonville Jaguars. FIVE interceptions Roethlisberger? Really? The Giants also cost six entries their lives, but in their defense they did lose four wide receivers to injury in the game. Crazy.

The 18 exits was exactly half of the alive entries which brings us down to only 18. I am almost certain this is unprecedented getting us down by this far, this fast. The Eagles were the top pick while others skated by with the Patriots, Vikings, Dolphins and Colts. If you are still alive then pat yourself on the back, because it hasn't been easy, but you might want to grab a Survivor II entry anyway, just in case.
- - -
Oct 3: And we thought Week 1 was bad. Here is the breakdown of lost picks in this pool by week: W1 = 34 (of 120), W2 = 4 (of 86), W3 = 13 (of 82) and W4 = 33 (of 69). 36 alive! That is what we've got after four weeks. Now is a good time to mention our $1,500 Classic II Survivor, Week 6 start. Members are already starting to pile into that one.

Falcons lose to the Bills, Patriots lose to the Panthers, Jags lose to the Jets and Cowboys lose to the Rams. Those were our losses. Oh, plus a Titans for Morton. Packers last Thursday turned out to be the safest pick of the bunch. A few had the Cardinals who needed a come from behind touchdown in OT to win, and the Seahawks looked very shaky to the Colts for half a game. Fwiw, I peeked at the Week 5 schedule, and it doesn't look any easier. But, if you are still alive you have fewer competing entries to worry about. Good luck!
- - -
Sept 26: It might be high time we start up the second half survivor because I'm not sure we are going to make it to the second half! If you are checking our Twitter account I said last week looked like a trap with 10 or 11 home dogs on the schedule. Know what - it was a trap! You tell them Ackbar! Lots of different favourites went down, resulting in 13 exits from our pool, but how close were the Packers and Patriots from losing (or tying) too? Then we would have a sea of red x's in this pool! Anyway, for those still alive, good luck heading into Week 4! (You guys like a Week 6 or a lucky Week 7 start to the second half pool?)
- - -
Sept 19: Only 4 casualties in Week 2, which is a big improvement over Week 1. Lots of love for the Oakland Raiders - or lack of fear from the New York Jets - and that one was a cakewalk so all of you were dancing like Marshawn Lynch. Ravens were also a strong pick over the Browns. Then there were some other touchdown favourites - Seahawks, Panthers - who were playing a little too close to the vest! Late TD by the Hawks got them past the 49ers, while the Panthers could only muster 9 points against the Bills. These are two of the top teams in the NFL? Be glad you've picked them, survived, and don't have to worry about picking them again. Now we are at 82 alive heading into Week 3.
- - -
Sept 12: I really need to bring back the old survivor pool stats pages because I lost count a few times figuring out how many we lost Week 1 - and it was only on three teams. The Patriots sucked it up last Thursday night resulting in 17 extra early exits from the pool and the Texans got pummeled by the Jags (10 sacks, really?) for another 15 lost entries. Bengals accounted for another two, losing in convincing fashion scoring a big fat zero.

All told, we lost 34 of the initial 120, so we are already down to 86. For those still in it, your $20 entry is now worth a cool intrinsic value of $23.26. Nice return for a one week investment! Hopefully some easier choices as we move on to Week 2! %more%

Free Entry Ultimate Bragging Rights NFL Survivor

Oct 16: "Curious to see how far I can make it." Yeah, not far apparently! This one is over and out. Thanks everyone for playing.
- - -
Oct 10: And then there were two! Five different picks in Week 5, and two won, three lost. In fact since CelticRules started a week late, does this mean I win? Ah well, whatever, we will play it out. Curious to see how far I can make it.

- - -
Oct 3: We couldn't completely avoid the upsets over here as we lost two on the Bills upset of the Falcons, plus yoletmein with a no pick. He's got too many entries in the money pools to worry about this one! Yikes, looking at the Week 5 schedule does not look pretty.
- - -
Sept 19: Small group in this one, and CelticRules joined us in Week 2 to add to the group, and we had a perfect week. Didn't lose a soul. Remember you can add a second entry if you like.
- - -
Sept 12: Thanks for joining this free pool for fun. Some of you didn't take advantage of a second entry, but I added a new feature you can join after the deadline so feel free. While a little odd for a survivor, this is just for bragging rights, so come on in and see how long a streak you can put together. I lost one of my entries already on the Texans! At least I wasn't alone, but coach, why did you pick the Browns?

A private pool is a pool you create, name yourself and invite people you know to participate in. You may choose to create a pool as a fun activity for your co-workers or as a fundraiser for a charity or kids’ sports team.

MyOfficePool.ca provides a service that allows you to create and operate the pool. We provide the website and perform all updates. Our private pool service is currently free. MyOfficePool.ca does not collect entry fees or distribute prizes for private pools. That is the commissioner’s responsibility should they choose to do that for their particular pool.

A public pool is a pool operated by MyOfficePool.ca and open to all registered members, subject to the specific pool’s terms and conditions. There is typically an entry fee and prize structure for our public pools if members purchase a premium access entry.

If you created a private pool, or if you are participating in a private pool and want to invite others to join, make sure to include the unique web link to the specific pool in your communications. Take advantage of the share buttons provided on your private pool results page to share the link across social networks or via email.
