Rules Summary
Starting the first week of the pool, Week 8 of the NFL season, you have to pick one team that will
win its game straight up (no point spreads).
If the team you picked wins, then you survive to the next week to pick another team to win. If the team you
picked loses or ties, then you are eliminated from the pool.
If necessary, the pool will run to the end of the NFL regular season (Week 17) and through the NFL
playoffs from Wild-Card Weekend to the Super Bowl.
You cannot pick the same team twice during the NFL regular season. If the contest extends into the NFL
playoffs, then the remaining entrants can pick a team they selected during the regular season, but,
the same team cannot be picked twice during the NFL playoffs.
The last person in the pool still alive after all others have been eliminated, our Survivor,
is the winner.
The pool will continue as long as there are entries still alive or until the pool's final week,
after the Super Bowl, whichever comes first.
Important Points
Weekly Pick DeadlineEach week of the NFL season, the final deadline for making
your pick is kickoff of the first game on Sunday. The exact time is usually 1:00 pm Eastern.
This deadline applies to all remaining games for the week, including late Sunday and Monday night
games.
In weeks with early games scheduled for a Thursday or Saturday, these games can be selected but
picks must be submitted before kickoff of the first game on that day.
These deadlines will be strictly enforced! There will be no exceptions for picks not being submitted on
time.
No picks for any games can be submitted once games have started for the day. The system will lock out all
submissions until it is reset after the game and pick results have been updated.
Default PickIf no pick is submitted prior to the deadline, then a default pick will be
assigned. The default pick will be the first team sorted alphabetically in ascending order by City
and then Team Name that you have not already selected. (Arizona, Atlanta, Baltimore, etc.)
Alternate Pick SubmissionIf you are having difficulty submitting your pick online, then send the
pick by email to
mike@myofficepool.ca. Make sure to clearly state
your username, entry number, week of the contest and pick. The email must be received time
stamped prior to the deadline and from the email account associated with your username. We take no
responsibility for email being delayed past the deadline or not
being delivered. Everyone should use the online system to make their picks and only send an email in the
case of an emergency.
Tie BreakersIf the pool extends into the playoffs, and since it is possible to run out of
available teams to select, the following tie breakers exist:
1. An entry that survives a playoff week but does not have any teams left to pick from is deemed to have
survived further than an entry that does not survive that last playoff week.
2. An entry that can pick a team but loses in a playoff week is deemed to have survived further than an
entry that had no teams to pick from at the start of that playoff week.
Multiple WinnersIf more than one person is still alive at the end of the pool, then
the prize is divided equally amongst the winners.
Mass Exodus ExceptionIf more than five entries are all eliminated in the same week and these
eliminations would result in the conclusion of the pool, because there are no more alive entries, then these
entries will be considered still alive and play on if there are available weeks remaining in the pool. The team
chosen by each entry that was wrong cannot be picked in the next or future week consistent with the rules as if
the pick was correct.
If five or fewer entries are all eliminated in the same week and these eliminations result in the conclusion
of the pool, then the prize is divided equally amongst these winning entries.
